Galibier PR - A Public Relations agency in Manchester

Whether you need to manage reputation, shift perceptions, change behaviours or simply raise profile to sell product, good PR is the answer.

Today, PR is about more than just media relations. If you have something to say (and everybody does), it’s not just a press release. It’s a story.

And communications shouldn't be one-way. Broadcasting your messages at your audiences won't be very effective - you need to engage with them on their terms.

Whether you need to influence editors, social media communities, stakeholders or policymakers, talk to Galibier.

About us

Galibier’s team has decades of experience from backgrounds in big agencies, media and politics. We produce powerful campaigns for clients in sectors from education and environment to finance and technology.

Many of the clients we work with operate in highly complex, highly regulated sectors, nationally and internationally, while others are niche businesses simply needing to build a reputation.

No matter how complicated or straightforward the brief, we apply our values of clarity and single-minded focus every time.

We start by getting to the bottom of what you need to achieve, what your messages are, how you back up those messages, and how we can creatively use them to influence your target audience.

Once the strategy is in place, we get on with it and we get results.

Team Spotlight

Oliver Chesher

Founder and Managing Director

Oliver set up Galibier in 2013 after a career in agencies specialising in financial, technical and corporate PR since the late 90s. As PR director at Gyro, which was at the time the world’s biggest B2B agency, he built client relationships with some global brands, notably in financial services and education, and many of these contacts remain Galibier clients or partners to this day. A keen outdoorsman, it was Oliver’s obsession with bikes and mountains that led to the name Galibier, from the highest climb in the Tour de France.

Hannah Dawson

Account Director

Hannah started her PR career at Galibier’s Manchester HQ working with clients in tech, education and finance and rapidly developed her expertise in high stakes campaigning, leading to a client-side sabbatical working in policy and higher education. Hannah leads on strategy and the day-to-day operation of Galibier’s client accounts. She is an accomplished netball player and her favourite creature is the cat.

Danny Turnbull

Non Exec Director

Danny has spent a lifetime in the agency world (if you count 30 years as a life expectancy in agency world) and half of this running large agencies in the UK and Europe. Galibier founder Oliver first met Danny when working under him while the pair were at Gyro. A certified director and a trained coach, Danny has specific experience in branding, creative and B2B spaces, alongside network/international operations, new business and agency governance, and works as a non-exec with a portfolio of agencies to help them grow. Danny is also a grass roots football coach and occasional player.

Geoff Chapman

Education Strategy Advisor

Geoff is a consultant to the education technology sector, who has worked for many years alongside Galibier colleagues Oliver and Danny since they worked together in previous businesses. Now in his third decade of sector experience, Geoff guides the investment community and tech companies, solving strategic problems as they navigate the education markets. Geoff brings to Galibier a unique expertise and unrivalled connections and contacts in education policy, skills and certification. He informs and opens doors for our education campaigns – domestic and international – from schools and colleges to higher education and lifelong learning. Just like long-time colleagues Oliver and Danny, Geoff shares a passion for music and an encyclopaedic record collection.

Our difference

There are many PR agencies out there in the industry. So why choose Galibier? It's all about relationships.

Firstly, we don’t win pitches with a room full of heavy-hitters and then delegate your account to an inexperienced back-room team.

The team you meet are the team that do the job.

That means we get to know you properly. We get under the skin of your organisation, and we align our interests with yours.

We and our clients choose each other because we understand each other’s culture: it’s not just nine-to-five for us.

We take an intelligent approach to every brief. We are not a press-release factory, nor do we blanket-distribute content and hope somebody’s interested.

Everything is considered and targeted.

Also, we’re agile. Unlike bigger organisations that make every decision by committee, we can move quickly with the times. That means we can immediately leap upon new developments, be they fast moving trends or simply a newer, better way of doing things.

But don't just take our word for it, see what some of our clients and partners have had to say:

One of the most proactive and relentless PR agencies I have ever worked with! Galibier is respected and trusted by influential media contacts, and has the energy, enthusiasm and intellect needed to get consistent results.

Martin Frazer Pepper Group

Galibier has a uniquely expert grasp on the technical and political issues in the education sector, both in the UK and internationally. I would recommend this agency for its intelligent, considered, pragmatic approach.

Paul Howarth Times Higher Education

Galibier is the agency we recommend in financial services and tech. It has real expertise in articulating very niche stories in a precise and authoritative way, and an easy way with people that makes the working relationship a truly enjoyable one.

Adam Oldfield Unisys

Galibier is the best in the business. They immediately understood and interpreted the complexity and sensitivity of our work, and helped us to tailor and target our messages to some extremely high level audiences. Their skill at building relationships with the media is truly impressive.
